Central Dance Company

Congratulations to all the students (and families!) who took part in the 2016 CDC production of the Nutcracker. I was very pleased to see the matinee performance and was so proud of the 8 company members from our school as well as Miss Leanne who danced in the Russian National Character (with Miss Mariah).

I could clearly see the effort our students had been giving to their Sunday rehearsals throughout terms 2 and 3. I know our students have found the experience inspiring and I look forward to those students sharing their inspiration and company skills with others when they return to classes. I could see Amy, Mariah, Misty and Sze Yin were all very proud and excited to be part of Aleeta Blackburn’s new contemporary
piece Apasionada.

During the Nutcracker, our seniors showed wonderful poise as ‘Snowflakes’. Amy and Misty were featured as Arabian dancers showing great versatility, balance and flexibility. Mariah and Sze Yin were very strong and stylish in the Spanish. Junior dancers from our school included Julia who was a very energetic Chinese dancer as well as Polichinelles (Candy Stripes). Gemma, Rachel and Peyton were also full of life as Polichinelles and then showed grace and dynamic during the Waltz of the flowers which our senior dancers also took part in. I am sincerely thankful to Miss Patti, Ramona, Miss Leanne, Alex, Margaret and all those involved in CDC for the opportunity they have given our dancers.
